WHAT IS COPYWRITING?:
Copywriting was formerly defined by copywriters years ago to be salesmanship in print which simply means writing that has only one purpose which is "sales".
Copywriting means using written words to start, enhance or extend a relationship with a customer that includes salesmanship in print. It is an act of writing or composing text for the purpose of creating awareness, advertising or marketing. In lay man's choice of words,I will say it is an act of writing to convince or to motivate people to do something or to take action on something.

WHO IS A COPYWRITER:
A copywriter is simply a person who practices the act of copywriting.A copy writer is the person who writes a persuasive content that motivates people to buy, sign up or take any action.
A copy writer is not a content writer.A content writer is a person who specialises on writing articles, bloggers, e-books,newsletters or reports.A content writer writes to inform while a copywriter writes to advertise.

IMPORTANCE OF COPYWRITING:
In the world of business,"communication is wealth" meaning To make more money in business, you have to reach out to more customers.Copywriting has made it possible to advertise and sell goods and services to millions of people at the same time.

WHO HIRES COPYWRITERS:
A copywriter can be hired by business companies, publishing companies, credit agencies, advertising agencies, etc to work as a team.
A copywriter can also choose to be a freelancer(working alone).

WHAT KIND OF WORK DO COPYWRITERS DO?:
1)Online copywriting which has to do with writing website copy, email copy,e.t.c .
2)Offline copywriting which has to do with writing newspaper ads, magazine ads, catalogue copy, e.t.c.

HOW TO BECOME A COPYWRITER:
1)Learn copywriting:Learn as much as you can about copywriting before you start.Read as many books as you can, watch online tutorials and read articles online.

2)Practise writing regularly: As it is said, "practise makes perfect", you have to practise how to write always, visit some sites, copy their successful ads and rewrite them. You don't have to wait till you get your first job before you start writing.

3)Build A portfolio:Get your own samples to show clients in order to get hired by them.So I advise you get a portfolio and start writing for friends for free just to improve you and to serve as a sample for your clients.

4)Set up Your Business: You have to register a business name, register a website, register a business bank account and get your business cards printed. Doing all this will make you feel official and confident in yourself.

5)Promote your Business:We are in a world were advertising is a necessity to thardom so I advice you start attending events where your potential clients are and sharing your business cards.

HOW MUCH DO COPYWRITERS EARN?:
How much you can earn as a copywriter depends on;
(A)who you write for
(B)what you write
(C)How to advertise yourself
A copywriter working for an advertising company gets to receive a steady or consistent pay-check but on the other hand, you are doing a job!You are working for a boss(Monday-friday 7a.m-9pm as the case may be)meaning you have limited time to your own personal life.
A copywriter who is a freelancer has control over his income meaning your income is unlimited as you can decide your charges and how many people to work for.You can work at your own convenience, at home or anywhere as long as you have an internet and a laptop, You are your own boss!As a freelancer, income can be very fantastic as well as very bad if you do not know how to market yourself to get more clients.
Writing for a business company is of more advantage than writing for a charity organisation because a business company is sure going to pay you better.
