One of the biggest trends of 2018 is influencer marketing. It’s become one of the most popular and successful strategies used by marketers today.

Influencer marketing is basically the act of promoting or selling your content through influencers (people who focus on a specific niche and have the ability to influence the opinion of their followers). Influencer marketing is gaining traction because micro influencers (think people with around 5000–100,000 followers) are showing higher engagement rates, higher ROI, and more authenticity that people are looking for, compared to their macro counterparts (famous people and celebrities with millions of followers).

A study by Experticity found that 82% of consumers have a higher likelihood of acting upon recommendations from micro influencers than others. People see micro influencers as relatable, because they are genuine and authentic in their posts, and their content shows products in real life situations.

Another study done by HelloSociety found that micro-influencers are able to generate 60% greater engagement than other campaigns. The main reason for this is that these are able to create a stronger bond with their followers. So their recommendations are trusted and valued more. Most of the time these influencers position themselves as thought leaders in their industries (whether that be fashion, travel, fitness, mental health, food etc.) and their audience then sees them as trusted authority opinions.

In the end, this benefits businesses because their target audience is already pre built for them! and there is a higher chance these followers actually respect the opinion of the person promoting your brand

Hence, all you need do is to have an identify. Stick to a niche and grow your social media account. Consistency and engagement with your followers is key and brands within your niche will come knocking soonest.
